Here I Am Again
I look at this blog almost every day always hopeful. No, this isn't a make you feel guilty for not chatting. Our days are all filled with so many activities that sitting down to the computer at the end of the day and writing something is not exactly appealing. So much easier to mindlessly surf around and see what there is to see out in cyber world.
I was glad to see your comment Susie. It is exciting for you off on your new adventure. I hope your will enjoy your new home. Soon you will be rather far removed from your family, but won't it be fun when you all get together? Are they going to help with your project of remodeling?
Has Fall arrived there in Columbus? Are the trees lovely? We don't get much of that here in NC. It is almost a muted coloring of the maples with the contrast of the green pine trees. Pretty if I take time to really appreciate the beauty.
I can't figure out how to keep the words of the paragraphs from running together. I add the spaces, but when I publish they are gone, gone, gone. Please figure that out for me. It drives me crazy.
Well Lizzie, it is getting close to your trip to the big wedding. Are you excited? Do you have to wear a certain color dress or anything? I hope you are treated well by the "B". You know who I am referring to, don't you?
Last weekend we went to Quantico, VA for a mini trip. We stayed on base and visited the Marine Corps Museum. Very interesting - and beautiful. Huge. Of course Earl walked my legs off as usual. That man can walk and walk and walk and never seem to get tired. Next month I think we are going to go back to Quantico and stay on base and take the train into D.C. The train goes right into the area where all the museums and sightseeing things are located. Then we won't have to deal with the traffic.
Have either of you read any good books lately? I just finished reading Henry's Sisters. It was funny, sweet and sad all mixed together. It was a story about three sisters and their brother Henry. Some of the characters were quite unique.
It seems I have been on the go constantly lately. I need a man like you have Lizzie that will do my laundry and clean my house. Could I borrow him? Earl just walked in my bedroom to let me know he was on the way to the golf course and said it looked like the Salvation Army in here. My neighbor brought 3 huge plastic trash bags full of clothes for me to see if I would want any of them. Her mother-in-law has cancer and is getting rid of them as she probably will die soon. If I wear any of them will I catch it?? Sorry, some of my silly sick humor creeping in and being creepy. Anyway, many, many high end wool suits and some rather outdated things. However, there are some slacks and skirts that I can probably use. She said to take the rest to the Salvation Army which I am going to do today after I have the car serviced.
I have been quilting, bowling, playing Mah Jongg and visiting the nursing home. That is my life. Now please share some of yours when you are up to it.
I love you my sisters and wish I could see more of you.

I Am In A Rut
What kind of rut am I in? Sometimes a lazy one or distracted one or even an overwhelmed one. None of them are good and all my own doing. Does that happened to either of you? What do you do about it? Lately I feel like I accomplish so little. I make lists and then lose them. I have good intentions, but then I can't remember them. Uh oh, you think. Lori is getting closer to the "home" to join others of like personalities. I just hope there is a good activity director to help keep my limbs mobile enough that I can walk to the activity room for bingo or story time.
What concerns do you have these days? The above is just a couple of mine. Hitting the 70 decade has got me thinking of all sorts of weird things. Of course you girlies are soooo much younger. Especially you Susie. I am very thankful for feeling good most of the time and a somewhat healthy outlook - most of the time but I tend to be more reflective about the future sometimes.
So....enough about such crap. I think we are all falling behind on our communication with one another whether it be the blog, emails or telephone. I definitely am part of the problem. Sorry. I say I will do better, but then weeks go by and nothing by silence from me. The two of you live in my head and heart, but until thoughts can be sent telepathically you won't know unless I pick up the phone and write some words.
Some recent activity in my life is:
- we went to St. Augustine last week for 3 days to the World Golf Hall of Fame and to Old St. Augustine. It was good to get away for a few days and see things we don't normally see. When we lived in Orange Park we used to go to St. Augustine once in awhile so it was fun to revisit and remember those times with Gordon and Troy. We stayed at the Marriott Renaissance with the help of Gordon's discount. Very lovely. Certainly not somewhere we could afford to stay every time we traveled.
- bowling started again on Friday mornings and I suck at it. I keep saying I am going to quit, but my team members keep talking me into continuing. The end is in sight, though. I haven't been going to the national tournament for a few years now.
- still playing Mah Jongg, visiting the nursing home and quilting.
- I got up the courage to call June recently. It was the day after Jim's birthday. I feel bad that I haven't kept in touch with her more often. She is busy as ever working, making cakes and catering. Wouldn't that make Mom laugh. Remember when she lived with Jim and June and she would complain about her cooking? She said her granddaughter is 16 and just got her driver's license. How do these people grow up so fast. Probably the same way I have gotten so old!
- I also spoke to our cousin Nancy last month. Her husband's Parkinson and cancer have progressed and now Hospice is coming. It is such a hard time for them.
Oh, I could probably think up a bunch of other stuff to say, but I am going to make a list of things I "should" do. I will write the list on my arm so I don't lose it.
Happy Columbus Day!
I love you girls or women or whatever is politically correct.
Lori
